Trig. functions. Finding height.?
a 30-meter line is used to tether a helium-filled baloon. because of a breeze, the line makes an angle of approx. 75 deg. with the ground.
what is the height of the baloon?
pls if you can explain in fully, step by steps and state which trig func is used. thx in advance.
You wanna use the rules of triangles to find the height of the baloon. using an abc triangle.

That is a picture of what an abc triangle looks like and what sides abc stands for. c(hypotenuse) would be 30m. capital B would be the 75degree angle. So you basically wanna solve for side b which is the height of the baloon.
Since sin is Opposite over Hypotenuse. You would want to use the sin trig function to find the height of the baloon.
So, now we have sin75 = b/30 or b divided by 30m.
you times both sides by 30 and you get 30sin75=b. which means 30 times sin of 75 degrees =b which is the height of the baloon.
after you do the math you get 28.97 or rounded 28.98.
